Each has their own reason - some to wash away their sins, others to discover religion and yet others to discover themselves. And of course people like me - tourists!! Rishikesh is a charming religious town and is quite clean. The people are helpful and gentle. One of the most calming experiences is to attend the evening "aarti" on the bank of the river in front of Gita Bhavan. The setting is dusk, a flowing river and beautiful music. This singing takes you to another level and the music draws you into yourself. I also went rafting which is extremely addictive. The adrenalin rush makes you want more. And the water is clean...!
